When the main power source completely fails to function, whether from high loads in an area or a natural disaster, you must feel confident that your generator(s) will perform as required. The primary cause of most diesel failures comes from improperly stored fuel.
Fuel manufactures recommend that fuel be stored for no more than 60-90 days. After that time, the fuel begins to degrade. The main problem with stored diesel fuel is that it will start to form solids due to an attraction through the electrons (Van der Waal’s force). The result of this attraction is regarded as sludge or algae.
